There was a house fire to the west of Longview, in Coal Creek, Friday afternoon.
The fire was first reported around 2:27 p.m. at the 500 block of Carlon Loop Road. Several 911 callers reported heavy smoke in the area and flames coming from the second story of the home.
Arriving firefighters from Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue began their attack with multiple hose lines, and shortly after, a second alarm was called. It was confirmed that everyone was out of the house.
By around 4:37 p.m., the fire was extinguished. Unfortunately, one cat died in the fire, and another is still missing. During the incident, a firefighter fell through a compromised floor but suffered no injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
